Last nights Stirling Prize saw United St Saviour’s Charity and Witherford Watson Mann Architects win the UK top architectural for their reimagining of “Almshouses for the 21st Century”.  The development provides affordabel housing for over 65’s in Southwark and includes 59 flats, plus communal facilities including a froof garden, couryardand communal kitchen.  Winning the award the judges said that the the scheme "sets an ambitious standard for social housing among older people”.

Carvil was honoured to be able support United St Saviours Charity in its negotiations with Southwark Council to acquire the site at 94-116 Southwark Park Road and deliver a truly innovative affordable housing solution.  Carvil has also provided public affairs and stakeholder engagement services to USSC that to date has involved arranging a two-day public exhibition in June 2015 as well as arranging meetings with key stakeholders. A planning application was submitted in August 2015 and received unanimous planning approval in January 2016.
